X-ray Testing System           

Comet has announced the FeinFocus Cougar Pro X-ray testing system, provid­ing manufacturers with fully automated X-ray testing capability. Featuring auto­matic loading and unloading and Auto­mated Defect Recognition (ADR) techno­logy, the new FeinFocus Cougar Pro fits seamlessly into surface mounted techno­logy manufacturing lines. Fully automat­ed X-ray testing is becoming progressively more important, as the increasing use of ball grid arrays and hidden solder connec­tions in printed circuit board assemblies requires X-ray testing to detect abnormali­ties that may be hidden from traditional optical testing systems. The FeinFocus Cougar Pro is unique, as it is the only au­tomated X-ray testing system that pro­vides quantitative analysis of printed cir­cuit components using a modular design. Used in conjunction with traditionalauto­mated optical testing systems, the FeinFo­cus Cougar Pro enhances yield by detect­ing those discontinuities that cannot be identified. The FeinFocus Cougar Pro has been optimized for automatic testing, meaning manufacturers do not have to sacrifice X-ray image quality. Proprietary Comet ADR technology greatly reduces analysis time in the production line with fast and accurate recognition of solder voids and other abnormalities.
